The Tejeros Convention , held in March 1897, was a significant event in the Philippine where factions of the Katipunan, Madiwang and Magdalo, met to establish a revolutionary government. This convention, which took place in San Francisco de Malabon (now General Trias), Cavite, is notable for holding the first presidential and vice-presidential elections in Philippine history, though participation was limited to Katipuneros. Emilio Aguinaldo was elected as president, defeating Andres Bonifacio, a decision that led to tensions and ultimately, the arrest and execution of Bonifacio.
