After nearly three centuries of Spanish colonial rule, the Filipino people had long endured oppression and repeatedly resisted foreign control. From intellectual reform campaigns to localized uprisings, various movements emerged—fought both through the power of the pen and the force of battle. These efforts ultimately culminated in the Philippine Revolution, led by the revolutionary organization Katipunan, whose goal was to unite the nation and secure its independence from Spain.
